New developments are emerging from New Smyrna Beach. Santa Fe-born artist Enzo Trapani is crafting a novel cultural movement, distinct from what we’ve seen before.
NEW VISIONS OF ART
It began one day when a truck arrived at the doors of a storage space holding countless artworks and heritage pieces, all quietly awaiting their fate.
Workers loaded each piece, one by one, onto the truck, destined for a new purpose.
SETTING THE STAGE FOR THE FUTURE
With meticulous and caring hands—hands that wield scalpels and suture wounds, hands that comfort the sick to welcome them or bid farewell, hands that grip suitcases and attach luggage tags—

Those precise hands rearranged tables, linens, and tapestries, crafting a new scene elsewhere. They made way for floral-patterned tables and shelves lined with books.
The air molecules shifted one by one, giving way to a sonic trail of lively voices on an April afternoon. In an imaginary dance of motion, they leapt from place to place.

COLORS AND CONTRASTS

Enzo Trapani arrived in the country about three days early, to be able to enjoy the surroundings, place, and landscapes of the region. Tours, meetings with friends, and visits to local spaces were the denominator. On the other hand, Vito Abba was putting the final touches on the assembly of the works, while the city waited for the moment when the gallery would open its doors.

The event was held at Artium Gallery Rue de l’Hôtel-de-Ville 11 Genève, Switzerland, from where the call was organized, created as on other occasions by Abba Studio. It is worth saying that Enzo also gave a lecture to the audience present.

Enzo’s pet came into his life a few years ago, the product of an incessant search for a 4-legged company. It is not an easy job, being the company of someone who travels a lot around the world. “Mia’s” life does not lie only in being a pet. He has taken things beyond a normal bond of affection and tail wagging. We would almost say, it has taken a leading role. Mine, it’s more than just a pet. “Mïa” not only brightens Enzo’s days, afternoons and nights. Mïa, at this point, is a personal assistant. And he executes each task with impressive skill. One of them, for example, is to bring the owner’s clothes to the edge of the bed. DOG CODES Every day, a ritual takes place in Mïa’s house. He goes to the closet, checks the drawers, and chooses some clothes for the owner. With its cold snout and big nose, it chooses the colors it likes the most. And the shapes. Then, he hugs it with his enormous mouth surrounded by polka dots, to carry the garment to the edge of the bed. Almost a maid!!
ENZO TRAPANI “MIA”: MORE THAN A PET
About four months ago, “Mía” had an injury. While playing, he had a tear in his hind leg. The scalpel was the only solution the veterinarian found. There began a whole journey different from the things I was used to. Long rests, a collar that prevented him from licking himself, and…rehabilitation for his paw. All this made the plans of its owner a little more complex, who was traveling to Argentina at the time. “Mia” had to be left with someone, and the treatment stopped. TODAY
Today, “Mïa” is already well and close to having a 100% recovery. Therefore, we show readers this beautiful photo.

REST PERIOD
No activity was planned for this visit, it was just for rest. Enzo Trapani had decided to visit Argentina, after spending a few days visiting with his daughter Gabrielle, in New Orleans, between December 12 and 22.
The copious Santa Fe rains welcomed the passenger who brought the cold and snowflakes of New Orleans in his cap. The nose of the plane turned the color of yerba mate upon entering Argentine territory.
Thus, he made landfall in Santo Tomé, to take a short trip to the home of a relative. The mate, and the tortafritas, were waiting for him. RULE OF EXCEPTION
Despite having established a rest period with his collaborators, he made time in his agenda to visit, as a courtesy, the President of the Municipal Council, Isabel Molinas.
It is not the first time that Enzo Trapani visits the H.C.M., but in April of last year he was honored as an illustrious citizen. With Isabel «Chuchi» Molinas, he was able to share intense moments remembering things in common.
It should be noted that Enzo studied at the UNR., having graduated in 1983 and settling in Mississippi, to later pursue his career.

«MIA» runs in the meadow near a lake.

The look of «Mia» is very particular.
Her eyes are always loaded with nostalgia, like she lives in a strange latitude where her thoughts connect with her own.

BARCELONA
Next year 2024, the Argentine artist Enzo Trapani, a native of Santa Fe, will visit Barcelona, Spain.
This will be on May 9, at the Pignatelli Palace, Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona.
The organization and curatorship of the works is the responsibility of Vito Abba, linked to Abba Studio.

WORKING IN THE WORKSHOP
When the artist locks himself in his workshop, he communes with his
own angels and demons. It may seem like a parody of Dan Brown, but that’s how it is.
The work of art is nothing more than a jumble of confused feelings
and crazy feelings, ordered by the hand of the artist.
Enzo Trapani, in his free time, releases -in the language of art- everything that happened
in his life and his thoughts, leaving that imprinted in each stroke.
OF THE METAPHYSICS OF THE ARTIST
In reality, the artist works with matter, but with purely spiritual perceptions.
In this way, one enters the field of metaphysics. An ambivalent zone where things cannot be explained.
This is due to the fact that the material conception is diluted,
the artist starting to manage «energies» and forces, which are hidden.
But they exist alongside the real world. The works and objects themselves are not made of the polymer or material
that you see with your eyes. They are made with senses, perceptions, experiences,
hallucinations sometimes, that are far from the real world.
OF THE MAGIC
Shamanism (from the trade «Shaman»), is completely applicable in this case.
The shaman exists in art, but embodied no longer with robes and a mythological
appearance, but instead mutates into other forms. The artist is a «shaman». But modern. And it has in its favor,
the adjectives of forms through inspiration. And from that fusion… Art emerges!!
THE CLINIC
Five days a week, Enzo makes contact with his patients. Medicine is his profession, in the field of neurology. In his clinic, different people arrive from his city and its surroundings to be treated with different ailments.
ONE LIFE, ONE FUTURE
Enzo arrived in the US about 40 years ago, from Santa Fe, Argentina. After having graduated from the U.N.R. (National University of Rosario).
He specialized in Neurology, a science that took him many years to master. And on the other hand, it began to consolidate in the country of the North. His clinic is one of the most prestigious in the area, being visited by many patients during the week.
SCIENCE AND ART.
The modality that Enzo uses combines elements of medicine but also of his discoveries that relate science to art.
This is through color.

A group of people trained in different areas accompanies Enzo on a daily basis in his work.
The characteristic of the clinic requires specializations in different fields, as well as training according to the work.
But not everything is science: computing, communications, have their role.
Modern computers do their job, operated by trained people.
HEALTH AND LOVE
But unlike other visions of medicine, in Enzo Trapani’s clinic, health is combined with love.
Enzo uses love as a bonding tool with people, thus differentiating himself from others.
A patient is a friend. It is not an object or a client anymore. He is a human being who, in a «Trapanian» key (derived from Trapani), can and should fulfill his potential as a person and human being to the maximum.
For this reason, Enzo takes his spiritual potential and that has to do with non-tangible things, to a high level.

Enzo has been cultivating friendships in this part of the planet for more than 15 years. A bit far from her town by adoption, New Smyrna Beach. Between the years 2008, 2012, 2015, 2021, Enzo participated in meetings and shows that took place in the city of Santa Fe. In such meetings, an exhibition appeared in the ex – Sala Candace.
REMOTE AS A METHOD
«They say that distance is oblivion,» says the song. But in this case it is the opposite. The distance worked as a reagent in favor, as a balsamic emulsifier over the fear that rainy Sundays in autumn can cause. Enzo Trapani, before finally settling in the US, returned to Santa Fe, Argentina. This was almost around the year 2012. At that time, he returned to reside in his hometown, in the Guadalupe neighborhood.

But the change was, for the better. Although rootedness is an affective matter and a very strong cultural construction, a lot of work must be done to be able to overcome that ring of attraction exerted by places and things.
ART, A WORKSHOP, YOUR REFUGE
Enzo’s workshop in his Casa de Guadalupe Beach functioned as an art therapy office for himself. At that time, there was no «Mia», the docile 4-legged girl who would change her life.
Therefore, the boards, solvent cans and paint drums were the containers for a continent of emotions and overflows. Spirituality and the soul move more things than the wind in the desert sand.
Fate was silently preparing, at the same time, the arrival of «Mia». The secret plot of the existence of that wonderful animal that was going to spend the rest of his days with him was being woven in silence.
COMPANY IN DAYS, MONTHS, YEARS
Thus, the Guadalupe workshop was forgotten. But also, in memory, which is something different.
